Reaction Time Test

How fast are your reactions? Wait for the red panel to turn green, then click as fast as you can. You get 5 attempts, and we show your average and best time in milliseconds.

The panel stays red for a random 1.5 to 4.5 seconds, then turns green. Click the instant it changes. Your best time is saved in your browser.

How to use

Test your reactions in four steps

  1. 1

Press "Start" and watch the red panel.

  2. 2

Wait. It turns green after a random delay between 1.5 and 4.5 seconds.

  3. 3

Click the panel the instant it turns green.

  4. 4

Repeat for 5 attempts, then see your average and best.

Tips

React faster, fairly

  • Rest your finger lightly on the mouse button so you have less distance to move.

  • Watch the whole panel, not a timer. There is no countdown to game.

  • Stay loose. Tensing up slows you down more than you expect.

  • Use the same setup every time. Different mice and screens add a few milliseconds.

FAQ

Reaction time questions, answered

What is a good reaction time?

The average human reaction to a visual signal is around 200 to 300 milliseconds. Anything below 200ms is excellent, and competitive gamers often sit between 150 and 200ms.

Why does the wait time change every round?

Because a fixed delay lets you predict the moment instead of reacting to it. The random delay between 1.5 and 4.5 seconds keeps every attempt honest.

I clicked early and got a foul. What happened?

Clicking before the panel turns green means you anticipated instead of reacting, so that attempt does not count. Click the panel once to try that round again.

Do my screen and mouse affect the score?

Slightly. A slow display or a wireless mouse can add a few milliseconds. The test still measures you consistently on the same setup, so compare scores from the same device.

Reactions are just the start

Pair quick reactions with precise aim on the aim trainer, measure a different kind of speed on the typing test, or warm up with short passages from the paragraph library.
